MULLIAN
Tom
is a singer/songwriter/guitarist. He was born and raised in Upper Darby

times. He performs solo and in various musical combinations. Tom sings,
plays the acoustic guitar, Steel Guitar, the classical guitar,
mandolin, and electri
c blues/rock/country lead guitar. His repertoire includes original
songs, country, folk, rock, traditional, blues, and music of social
conscience.
Since
9/11, he has been the primary peace singer in the Philadelphia region.
He has performed at innumerable rallies, protests, demonstrations,
peace festivals, house concerts, and fundraisers. He has also played at
numerous Quaker meetinghouses, schools, churchs and colleges.
His
peace music has been broadcast on Philly major media
the
Independent Media. His musical work in the movement has been often
covered in the Inquirer and the Daily News as well as suburban
newspapers.
He
has done work with the Brandywine Peace Community, Delawar
e Country Wage Peace and Justice, Women's International League for
Peace and Freedom, the Global Women's Strike, Peace Action, Witness to
Innocence, and many others.
In
late 2005, he wrote and recorded an eclectic CD of instrumental music
entitled HARVEST DANCE. In May 2006, he composed and released SIX
STRINGS AGAINST THE WAR, a collection of songs taken in part from
street and concert performances. The CD features dramatic narratives
and occasional comic takes on current history. The CD opens with a
pledge to resist war by invoking some the great spiritual traditions.
SIX STRINGS closes with a celebration of all peacemakers.
ENNDORSEMENTS:
"Tom's
music has been the soundtrack of the peace movement in the Delaware
Valley since the horror of 9-11 gave way to Bush's imperial war
presidency. Tom's songs give us hope
as we choose our path in peace."

"The
stirring songs of Tom Mullian have played an integral role in building
a peace and justice movement in Delaware County, PA, and throughout the
Philadelphia region. Tom organizes
while he entertains. His
mastery of the acoustic guitar is matched by his ability to turn a
phrase that tells the truth about war, injustice, and the need for
individuals to take personal action. I'd rather hand out Tom's CD Six
Strings Against the War to prospective movement recruits than a
pundit's pamphlet or flyer."

"Tom
not only sings with conviction about peace, nonviolent resistance, and
war, but the personal example he sets as an activist makes his music
even more compelling. Typically, those who sing so well about these
issues make brief appearances at rallies or protests and that's it. Tom
will sing and play very movingly, under very trying circumstances of
nonviolent protest and resistance, and then actually practice civil
disobedience and risk arrest. Tom is the real thing as an
artist/activist, and I admire most of all his special combination of
conviction and musical talent."
